Where Was The Durrells Filmed in Corfu?

The Durrells is a British Comedy Drama that ran for four series on ITV. It is an adaptation of naturalist Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of autobiographical books. These tell the real-life story of the four years that he lived in Corfu from 1935 until 1939 with his widowed mother and his eccentric family.

The show proved to be very popular not only in the UK but also in many countries around the world.

The series was partly filmed in Corfu, an island located on the northwest of Greece a very popular summer holiday destination. The show proved to be a great advert for Corfu, with holiday-goers eager to retrace the steps of the Durrells family and visit the beautiful and stunning locations shown on screen.

I am used to hearing from family, friends and holidaymakers questions like: Where was the Durrells Filmed?, Where is the Durrells house?, Can I visit the locations were the Durrells was filmed? etc.

Most information I found on the internet don’t seem to identify many filmed locations and some are just inaccurate. There is nothing available of substance that I could pass on that would be useful to a fan of the show. I felt this had to be put right so I will attempt to write a blog to identify as many locations as possible from the series. I will add as much information about them and will include instructions on how to get there.

Some locations you will be able to visit and some unfortunately not. There are a number of them on private land or are not open to visitors. I must point out, Corfu was used mostly for the outdoor exterior scenes. The majority of indoor scenes were filmed in Ealing Studios and Twickenham Studios in London.
